I am a family doctor, or general medical practitioner, from the UK and, after working there for 30 years, my husband and I moved to Uganda in 2021. I was a general physician in a busy rural mission hospital in Zambia for one year in 1990 and I experienced the joys and struggles of cross-cultural ministry and the ways in which workers were able to thrive on the field. As a family doctor I developed skills in all aspects of primary health care including mental health, and latterly I trained in Christian integrative counselling. This has given me the breadth of understanding in how to care in a holistic way, for a person experiencing physical symptoms and those of mental health problems and distress.
I see clients who come to AIM Care in-person in the Tumaini office in Kampala or online, and following an evaluation I can make recommendations about a plan for your care which may include counselling and whether medication would be helpful. I can prescribe repeat medication and see you for follow up and reviews and counselling as you work towards managing and recovering from times of, for example, depression or anxiety or burnout.
